Wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan Sohan needs to undergo operation to heal his finger which was injured during the second T20 International against Zimbabwe.
Sohan, who led the T20 team in Zimbabwe, however went to Singapore with a faint hope that he could avoid the surgery to heal the finger. But after seeing him there, the specialist doctor said that an operation is mandatory.
He is scheduled to undergo surgery today (Monday), informed Sohan from Singapore.
“I have to undergo surgery on my finger. I am seeking everyone's prayers,” Sohan said.
His participation in the Asia Cup was put in further jeopardy due to the surgery. It is known that two weeks of complete rest should be taken after the surgery.
Meanwhile, the last time to announce the team Asia Cup is on Wednesday. The big question now is whether the selectors will take the risk by keeping him in the team.
Sohan injured his left index finger while trying to take catch off pacer Hasan Mahmud in the second T20 against Zimbabwe.
He was immediately informed by BCB that he will have to stay out of the field for three weeks. Back home, Sohan was observed by the BCB doctors who also suspected that he needs an operation.
This year's Asia Cup, which will be a T20 format tournament, will start on August 27. Bangladesh were drawn in the group with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
