Chittagong Medical College (CMC) authorities have expelled 30 students following clashes between two factions of the Chhatra League.
CMC principal Prof Dr Shahena Akter has confirmed the matter to the media.
The decision to suspend the students comes following an academic council meeting on Tuesday (November 23) morning, according to media reports.
Authorities have also decided to reopen the college campus next Saturday (November 27) in today's meeting.
However, no decision has been announced regarding the reopening the residential halls.
Prof Dr Shahena Akter said, the students were suspended on different dates. Besides, the Academic Council meeting has decided to open the girls' residential hall soon. ” However, the boys' hall was told to open a few days later we do not have an exact date at the moment.
According to local sources, the leaders and activists of one of the two factions of the college branch Chhatra League are following Chittagong Awami League leader AJM Nasir Uddin. Several students were injured in the clashes and clashes of Chhatra League. The condition of a student named Akib was critical. His skull was crushed.
Authorities closed the college indefinitely on October 30, after two factional groups of the Chhatra League clashed the night before. Several students were severely injured in the clash,
