The government of Bangladesh has decided to award the Ekushey Padak 2025 to 14 remarkable individuals and the Bangladesh Women`s Football Team for their exceptional contributions in field and sports.
The Ministry of Culture announced this exciting news on Thursday.
The Bangladesh National Women`s Football Team will be honored for their achievements on the field.
Along with them, a few people in other fields will also be celebrated.
In research, Maidul Hasan, the author of "Muldhara 71," will be recognized for his valuable work.
For language and literature awards will also go to two figures: Md. Shahidul Zahir (posthumous) and Helal Hafiz (posthumous).
In the area of culture and education, Dr. Shahidul Alam, a well-known photographer and human rights activist, will be awarded for his incredible contributions.
Dr. Alam is also the founder of Drik, a photography organization that has impacted many.
In science and technology, Mehdi Hasan Khan, who created Avro, the famous Bangla typing software, will receive the award.
In journalism, Mahfuz Ullah (posthumous), who passed away recently, will be honored for his work, as well as Mahmudur Rahman for his strong stance on human rights in journalism.
The arts community will also see some big names recognized.
Azizur Rahman (posthumous), a legendary filmmaker behind classics like "Chhuti’r Ghonta," will be honored for his filmmaking career.
Music lovers will see Ustad Nirad Boron Barua (posthumous) and Ferdous Ara awarded for their immense contributions to music, with both being honored.
Renowned photographer Nasir Ali Mamun will be recognized for his incredible work behind the lens, while Rokeya Sultana, an influential painter, will also be acknowledged for her artistic achievements.
In education, Dr. Niyaz Zaman will be celebrated, while Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumous) will be honored for his outstanding social work.
This year’s list of Ekushey Padak recipients truly represents a wide range of disciplines, from sports and culture to education and social service, celebrating those who have left a lasting impact on Bangladesh.
