Prominent member of the international dance community Dulal Talukdar, a legendary Bangladeshi dance maestro, passed in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
The 74-year-old, a renowned instructor at Harvard School of Dance and Bulbul Lalitakala Academy, passed away on Saturday, May 11, from a heart attack at his home on the outskirts of Medford.
After a protracted battle with several ailments, Talukdar leaves behind his wife Sabiha Talukdar, two daughters, and a legacy of artistic excellence.
Dulal Talukdar was born in Kolkata in 1946 and moved to Dhaka in 1947 following the partition, residing in Komlapur`s Thakurpara.
His older brother Mahbub Talukdar, a well-known storyteller and former Election Commissioner, encouraged him to have a strong interest in music and dancing during his formative years.
Moshior Rahman Talukdar and Tamal Talukdar are also his siblings.
Dulal Talukdar`s autobiography, "Ami Dulal Talukdar," highlights his innovative dance works, which were marked by great artistic sensibility, deep attention, and dedication.
