HC orders reinstatement of dismissed ACC official Sharif Uddin

The High Court has ordered the reinstatement of Md Sharif Uddin, a former Deputy Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), who was dismissed from service in February 2023.

The court also instructed the authorities to pay all outstanding salaries and benefits due to him.

Sharif Uddin was removed from his position through a gazette notification signed by the ACC Chairman on 16 February 2023.

The decision cited Rule 54(2) of the ACC (Employees) Service Rules, 2008, allowing for dismissal in the public interest.

At the time, it was stated that he would receive 90 days’ salary and other applicable benefits as per regulations.

While stationed in the ACC‍‍`s Chattogram office, Sharif Uddin had served as the investigating officer in several high-profile corruption cases.

His dismissal sparked widespread criticism, with many alleging that he became a target for vested interests due to his bold investigations.

The court’s ruling to reinstate him is being seen as a significant development in the fight for transparency and accountability within public institutions.
