Bangladesh reports 4,378 new cases in 24 hours

In a 24-hour count till Friday morning, health authorities in Bangladesh reported 4,378 new COVID-19  cases. With this, the tally of coronavirus infections in the country has reached 1,609,042.

This is the highest single-day tally in 20 weeks.

Six more fatalities were also reported in the last day. With the latest development, the tally of Covid-19 fatalities in the country has reached 28,129. 

The positivity rate has climed to  14.66 per cent. after testing as many as  29,871 samples across the country. 

Meanwhile, 351 more patients recovered through treatment at home and in hospitals during the 24-hour period taking the tally of recovery to 1,552,306. 

The figures were recorded between Thursday 8:00 and Friday 8:00 am. 

The latest Covid-19 situation in the country was revealed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its routine daily statement.
