Court has granted bail to 12 accused in two cases filed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and police over the attack on the Barishal UNO’s official residence.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Masum Billah passed the order on Wednesday (August 25).
Defence lawyer advocate Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to media.“Out of 21 accused 12 granted bail. Among them nine were accused in the case filed by police and three in the case filed by UNO Munibur Rahman,” he said.
On Wednesday (August 18), at least 30 people were injured as the activists of local Awami League, Chhatraleague and Jubo League locked into clashes with police and ansar.
Barishal city mayor Serniabat Sadik Abdullah also sustained injury.
Later on, UNO Munibur Rahman and police filed two cases over the incident while two other cases were also filed against UNO and Office in Charge of Barishal Sadar police station.
