Police have rescued an 18 months old baby who was kidnapped from Roufabad area in Chattogram's Bayezid Bostami and arrested three alleged kidnappers.
The arrestees are Kulsum alias Sumi (27), her husband Sohel (29), and Sohel's mother Khorsheda Begum (55).
Mohammad Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baizid Bostami Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said: "On April 13, Sumi abducted Arju, son of Abdul Khalek, from his house in the absence of his mother. Later, she along with two other alleged kidnappers took the baby to Habiganj area in Chandpur.
The OC said: "The baby's mother filed a complaint with the police station the same day and after scrutinizing CCTV footages and found some unclear images of the abductor but later managed to reveal their identity."
"Later, police traced them and rescued the baby," he added.
The motives behind the abduction couldn't be known immediately.
