682 Bangladeshis arrived at Port Sudan from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. They have been returned under the management of Bangladesh Embassy in Khartoum.
On Tuesday (May 2) morning, 13 buses from three places in Khartoum left for Port Sudan with Bangladeshis, said Tarek Ahmed, acting ambassador of Bangladesh in Khartoum. Those Bangladeshis arrived at Port Sudan on Wednesday (3 May) at 2 pm Bangladesh time.
The war situation has been going on in Sudan since April 15 and 700 Bangladeshis out of about 1500 have expressed their interest to return to the country.
Tarek Ahmed said that Bangladeshis have been accommodated in a school building in Port Sudan. The school building has a total of 8 rooms and another open space with cover.
Bangladeshis will be safely sent to Jeddah from Port Sudan. They will be taken by Saudi Arabian ship.
Stating that the Saudi authorities are helping in this regard, the Acting Ambassador said, "We will immediately inform the Saudi authorities of the documents for visas for those Bangladeshis who have passports." Those who do not have a passport will be issued a travel permit and notified to the Saudi authorities.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of Bangladesh Mohammad Javed Patwari has assured the Saudi authorities that they will try their best to send the Bangladeshis who returned from Sudan back to the country within 72 hours.
