Health authorities have cancelled the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Dhaka‍‍`s Moghbazar after finding its response inadequate regarding the deaths of six newborn babies.

The decision was announced on Thursday by Professor Dr Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during a press briefing.

According to health officials, the hospital had been asked to explain the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the infants. However, authorities concluded that the explanation provided by the hospital management failed to satisfactorily address the concerns raised during the review process.

The move comes amid growing public attention over the incident and questions regarding patient care and hospital management.

Earlier in the day, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said he was not satisfied with the explanation submitted by the hospital authorities. His remarks signaled the government‍‍`s concern over the matter and the possibility of further regulatory action.

The cancellation of the licence marks a significant step by health regulators as they continue to investigate the circumstances behind the deaths.

Authorities have yet to provide additional details regarding the next steps for the hospital, including the future of its medical services and patients currently receiving treatment there.

The incident has intensified scrutiny of healthcare standards and accountability within private medical institutions across the country.
