BTV to Broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026

Football fans across Bangladesh will be able to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Bangladesh Television (BTV), as the government has finalized arrangements to bring the tournament to local audiences through the state-owned broadcaster and several partner organizations.

The announcement was made by Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, who said detailed information about the broadcasting plan will be shared with media outlets in the coming days.

Speaking to the national news agency BSS, the minister said BTV has secured an arrangement to air the world‍‍`s biggest football event alongside other broadcasting partners, ensuring wider access for viewers across the country.

Swapon, who is currently visiting China on an official trip at the invitation of the Chinese government, welcomed the development and acknowledged the efforts of media organizations and ministry officials involved in the process.

He expressed appreciation for everyone who contributed to the initiative, saying their cooperation played an important role in making the World Cup broadcast possible.

The minister also said the achievement was made possible under the direction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He expressed optimism that all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 could be shown to audiences in Bangladesh without requiring any expenditure from public funds.

According to the ministry, further details regarding broadcasting rights, partner organizations and coverage plans are expected to be announced later today.
