Bangladesh recorded three more deaths linked to measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities across the country to 642.

Data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday showed that all three newly reported deaths have been categorized as suspected measles fatalities.

With the latest figures, the number of suspected measles deaths has increased to 550, while the tally of laboratory-confirmed deaths remains unchanged at 92.

The country also reported 1,110 new suspected measles cases during the reporting period, pushing the cumulative number of suspected infections to 83,139.

At the same time, health authorities confirmed 132 additional measles cases through laboratory testing, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 10,059.

The outbreak has continued to place pressure on healthcare facilities nationwide. According to DGHS statistics, 68,056 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals since March 15.

Of those hospitalized, 64,293 have recovered and been discharged, while health officials continue to monitor the evolving situation.

Public health authorities have repeatedly urged parents and caregivers to ensure children receive routine vaccinations, stressing that immunization remains the most effective way to prevent severe illness and reduce the risk of further spread.
