A medical air ambulance has landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to take injured Dhaka-8 aspiring independent candidate Sharif Osman Hadi to Singapore for advanced treatment.
Airport authorities said the air ambulance arrived at 11:22am on Monday.
If everything goes as scheduled, the aircraft will leave for Singapore around noon with Hadi on board.
The decision to send Hadi abroad for treatment was taken on Sunday.
According to the press wing of the Chief Adviser’s office, all necessary arrangements have been completed, including a fully equipped medical air ambulance, a team of doctors and travel formalities.
Arrangements have also been made for Hadi’s treatment at the Accident and Emergency Department of Singapore General Hospital. The government will bear all expenses related to his treatment.
The Chief Adviser has directed the concerned authorities to closely monitor Hadi’s treatment round the clock.
The press wing also said the nation has been requested to pray for his quick recovery.
Over the last two days, the government contacted several hospitals in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia to ensure advanced medical care for Hadi. Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the Chief Adviser on health, said Hadi’s condition is currently stable and unchanged.
Sharif Osman Hadi, a spokesperson of the Inquilab Mancho, was shot on Friday in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of Dhaka while travelling in a rickshaw. Attackers on a motorcycle shot him in the head and fled the scene.
He has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since the attack.
