The Awami League government perpetrated the communal attack in the country to remain in the power, alleged BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He said the ruling party wants to lay the responsibility on BNP plotting the attacks on the Hindu community.
Fakhrul was addressing a round table meeting held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital on Sunday (October 31) organised by Women and Children Rights Forum.
“The holy Quran was deliberately kept in a temple through a lunatic person. Muslims launched a movement. Attack was carried out in Hajiganj. All are tied to the same thread. The premeditated attack is a weapon. They want to stay in power by using this weapon against BNP,” Fakhrul claimed.
“We saw in Rangpur that two Chhatra League leaders carried out the attack in presence of the law enforcers. So, there is no doubt who is perpetrating the attacks,” he said.
Similar communal violence occurred in Tripura. Masjid came under attack. They want to ignite a communal riot through these incidents, Fakhrul went saying.
