In a tragic incident, another Bangladeshi youth has been shot dead, allegedly by members of the Indian Khasia community, near the Dumdumia border in Bichnakandi, Gowainghat Upazila, Sylhet.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Sabuj Mia, son of Abul Mia, from Phitorgul Pahartoli village in the same upazila.
According to local sources, Sabuj`s body was found about 200 yards inside the Indian border, close to border pillar number 1261.
After discovering the body, locals immediately informed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the police. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Tofail Ahmed of Gowainghat Police Station stated that Sabuj Mia`s father, Abul Hossain, filed a general diary with the police regarding the incident.
However, authorities have not been able to recover the body since it lies inside Indian territory.
This tragic death follows a similar incident just days earlier, where another teenager from Sylhet was shot dead by Indian Khasias while attempting to cross the border into India illegally.
