A man named Swapan Kumar Sarkar (62) was killed in a collision with a Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) garbage-truck in front of Rajdhani Super Market in the capital's Wari.
The incident took place around 6:00 am on Thursday (December 23). The victim died on the spot.
Wari on-duty police offiver Ujjwal Hossain confirmed matter to the media.
He said the man was found dead on the street in front of Wari supermarket in the morning. After receiving information, police recovered the body and brought it to the police station.
He added that the man was killed when he was hit by a garbage truck belonging to DSCC. He was a resident of Gandaria (Old Dhaka). The victim's relatives have been contacted. Attempts are being made to know the details of the incident. The body will be sent to the morgue for autopsy.
