Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has praised the Nepal Army for its role in safeguarding the country and responding to natural disasters, describing it as a “wall of defence.”

He made the remarks while attending a programme in Dhaka marking the 263rd Raising Day of the Nepal Army, hosted by the Nepalese Embassy.

Highlighting the friendly relations between the two countries’ armed forces, the army chief expressed satisfaction over existing cooperation and stressed the need to further strengthen collaboration in the future.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, said the Nepal Army represents bravery, dedication and service, and noted that growing military cooperation  including training, joint exercises and exchanges  has deepened ties between the two sides.

Military Attaché Brigadier General Anjan Keshar Khatri also outlined the Nepal Army’s role in protecting national sovereignty, contributing to development and responding to disasters, as well as its participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

The event was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, military officers, business leaders and members of the Nepali community in Dhaka.
