At least four killed in Magura polls violence

At least four people have been killed in Magura violence broke out centering the establishment of supremacy ahead of local government election. The incident took place at Jagdal union in Magura Sadar upazila around 4pm Friday (October 15).   

The deceased were identified as Sabur Molla, Kabir Hossain, Rahman Molla and Imran. The clash left at least 10 more people injured.

“Police reached the spot. The injured have been taken to hospital. The situation is now under control,” Said the district superintendent of police Zahirul Islam to the media confirming the matter.

“The declaration of election schedule unleashed the violence between supporters of two member candidates,” Zahirul Islam said.

Locals said, supporters of Jagdal union member Sabur Hossain and his rival Najrul Islam locked into a feud for a long time over establishing supremacy. The infighting resulted in clashes on Friday.
