Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said today that the BNP`s top leaders cannot downplay responsibility for the violence in Kakrail yesterday and the policeman`s murder.
"The attacks were carried out while they (BNP leaders) were having meetings. Can they escape their accountability?" the home minister said while talking to the reporters at his Secretariat office.
In response to a question regarding the detention of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Asaduzzaman said, "Can the BNP leaders avoid the responsibility of attacking the house of the chief justice and killing a police member?"
He said that as a result of yesterday`s clash between BNP men and law enforcement, one police officer was killed, while two Ansar members and another police officer are fighting for their lives.
"Charges will be brought regarding yesterday`s murder of police officers, attack on the chief justice`s home, bus torching, and vandalism", he said.
