Following a recent government decision, the prices of kerosene and diesel in the domestic market have been slashed by Tk 2, consequently the government has announced a corresponding decrease in the fare of diesel buses by 3 paisa per kilometer.
At a coordination meeting held at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) headquarters in Banani on Monday, it was revealed that the new fare structure would be implemented upon official notification.
Under the revised rates, long-distance bus fares have been adjusted from 2 taka 15 paisa to 2 taka 12 paisa per kilometer. The BRTA also confirmed that transport owners have agreed to the recommended new bus fares.
In accordance with the recommendations, bus fares within Dhaka and Chittagong cities will now stand at 2 taka 42 paisa per kilometer, down from the previous rate of 2 taka 45 paisa.
