Miscreants set fire to a bus in the capital during the two day countrywide blockade called by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. A transport worker was burnt in this incident.
The incident took place on Sunday morning in Bashpatti area of Meradia, Banasree.
Eyewitnesses said that miscreants set fire to a moving bus at around 7:30 am. Meanwhile, the bus driver lost control. The bus fell into the ditch on the side of the road. A transport worker named Sabuj Mia (30) was burnt in this incident. He was rescued and admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Sabuj Mia is receiving treatment with 28 percent burn on his body.
"His condition is critical as he had burns on the respiratory tract," a doctor of the institute said.
Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said they were first informed by locals about the fire.
"We did not need to work on the spot as locals doused it and informed fire officials minutes later," she said.
After three consecutive days of blockade, Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP announced a 48-hour blockade program across the country from 6 am on Sunday (5 November) to 6 am on Tuesday (7 November).
