CA won’t resign: Planning Adviser

Planning Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud has said that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has not announced any decision to resign.

“The Chief Adviser is still with us and has not said he would step down,” he told reporters after a closed-door meeting of the interim government’s advisory council on Saturday.

The high-level meeting, held amid ongoing political unrest, started at 12:20 PM and ended around 2:20 PM at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. A total of 19 advisers attended.

Earlier in the day, the ECNEC meeting approved 10 development projects. After that, all government officials, including the Cabinet and Planning Secretaries, were asked to leave the NEC room for the advisory meeting.

Environmental Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said discussions focused on elections, reforms, and the upcoming “July Declaration.”

Sources say Professor Yunus had recently hinted at resigning, expressing frustration over political deadlock, frequent protests, and lack of cooperation from key actors.

However, no major political party supports his resignation. Instead, they are urging the interim government to announce a clear roadmap for the upcoming national election.
