CA Yunus leaves for 3-day official visit to Malaysia

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed Dhaka today for Kuala Lumpur on a three-day state visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation.

His flight on Biman Bangladesh Airlines left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 2:00 pm.

According to Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, migration and investment will be the key focus areas during the trip.

The visit will include a business conference on August 12 and the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on August 13.

Upon arrival, Prof. Yunus will receive a guard of honour, with Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail welcoming him.

He will hold bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on August 12 in Putrajaya, after which a memorandum of understanding will be signed.

In total, five MoUs and three notes of exchange are expected during the visit. Prof. Yunus will also meet Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia.

The delegation includes Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, and BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.

The Chief Adviser is scheduled to return home on August 13.
