Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to depart for London this evening on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, an Emirates Airlines flight carrying the Chief Adviser and his delegation will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 7:30 PM today.
During the visit, Prof. Yunus is scheduled to meet His Majesty King Charles III and hold bilateral discussions with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique announced this at a pre-visit briefing on June 4, 2025.
The Chief Adviser is also expected to engage with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, other senior ministers, political leaders, and prominent members of the British policy and business communities.
In a notable acknowledgment of his global impact, Professor Yunus has been selected by King Charles III as the recipient of the King Charles III Harmony Award 2025, recognizing his lifelong efforts to foster peace, environmental sustainability, and harmony among communities.
The award will be formally presented at a ceremony at St James’s Palace in London on June 12. The King’s Foundation — a UK charity established in 1990 by then Prince of Wales — presents this prestigious award annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to sustainable development and humanitarian causes.
As part of his engagements, Professor Yunus will also hold courtesy meetings with the Secretaries-General of both the Commonwealth and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), underlining Bangladesh’s active role in international cooperation.
Additionally, he is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on June 11 as part of his public diplomacy initiatives.
The Chief Adviser is expected to return to Bangladesh on June 14.
