Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal expressed worry about the slow voting process using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Rangpur City Corporation.
He came up with this remark after having a view exchange meeting with the election observers and journalists who covered the polls held on December 27, last year.
The meeting was held at Nirbachan Bhaban (election building) of Agargaon area in the capital.
“The commission is carefully looking into the cause of the delay,” he added.
"Slowing down of the voting system was a major complaint and in some cases the fingerprints did not match. The delay can be due to many reasons. We will think about it,” CEC Awal said.
He further, “A big complaint was the voting system’s slowness, and occasionally the fingerprints did not match. The delay can be occurred due to various reasons.”
There were so many voters in line after the polls were supposed to close at 4:30 pm, voting continued in some polling places until 8:00 pm in several places of Rangpur City Corporation.
