Chief Adviser seeks update on Tamim Iqbal’s health after heart attack

On Monday, March 24, Bangladesh‍‍`s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, personally inquired about the health of former national cricket captain Tamim Iqbal. 

Tamim was rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack during a match at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP).

In an official statement, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mojumdar, on behalf of the Chief Adviser, spoke with the Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nizamuddin Chowdhury, to get an update on Tamim’s condition.

Nizamuddin confirmed that following the heart attack, Tamim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where an angiogram was performed to assess the extent of the damage. 

The BCB is maintaining close communication with the medical team treating Tamim and is ready to offer any necessary support for his recovery.

He also assured that regular updates about Tamim’s health would be shared with the Chief Adviser to keep him informed of the situation.

Tamim Iqbal, who has been a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s cricketing success, has played 70 Tests, 243 One-Day Internationals, and 78 T20 Internationals. 

He has also captained the national team at various points throughout his distinguished career.
