With an injury mark around his neck, a 27-year-old police constable was found dead by law enforcers from a plantation of Mahogany trees in Mymensingh’s Sadar upazila’s Kolpa area.
The deceased, Saddam Hossain, the son of freedom fighter Rezaul Karim of Bagher Kanda village, was posted with the Sunamganj district police in Sylhet.
He recently came home on vacation and went missing on Friday afternoon, said Masum Ahmed Bhuiyan, police superintendent of the Kotwali model police station.
A woman spotted his body on Saturday afternoon and informed the police.
"He is believed to have died as a result of strangulation by rope(garrotting)," said the police superintendent, adding several police teams are investigating the incident.
