The due date for the investigation committee to submit report on Jhalakathi launch fire accident has been extended as the committee could not submit the investigation report within the assigned time.
The due date for report submission has been extended by the shipping ministry by three days.
Convener of the investigation committee and joint secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Tofail Islam disclosed the information on Wednesday (December 29) evening.
Earlier, the committee had requested to extend the time limit for submission of investigation report by another five days. The three-day period has been extended in view of that application.
The three working days given to the committee to submit the investigation report on the accident ended on Tuesday (December 28).
On Thursday (December 23) at around 3:00 am, a terrible fire broke out in the Barguna-bound passenger launch 'MV Obhijan-10'. A day following the incident, the Ministry of Shipping formed a seven-member investigation committee to probe into the deadly fire.
