Dhaka Nagar Paribahan, the newly launched pilot project to bring bus transportation under one company, plans to add three more routes, said Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh on Monday, reports UINB.
The trial run of Dhaka Nagar Paribahan’ buses on Ghatarchar-Kachpur route (route 21) has been running successfully since December 26, he told reporters after the 21st meeting of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee (BRRC) at his office.
The green cluster project will now expand to routes 22, 23 and 26, said the minister.
Taposh said the details and recommendation of the new routes will be submitted to the committee in the next meeting.
The services will be launched soon, he said without giving any specific date.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam joined the meeting virtually.
Speaking about the time schedule of the construction of four inter-city bus terminals, the DNCC mayor said a detailed plan with schedule will be placed at the next meeting.
No 22 route of Nagar Paribahan will run from Ghatarchar to Bhulta, No 23 will be from Ghatarchar to Meghna, and No 26 from Ghatarchar to Narayanganj.
There are eight routes under the green cluster and all of them will be brought under the system this year, the mayor said.
Drives are ongoing to seize unauthorized vehicles on the Nagar Paribahan routes, he added.
On October 5,Taposh said no old buses will be allowed to operate on the pilot route. Buses purchased after 1 January, 2019 that are operating on the route would be included in the new service.
New buses would be added to the route as well, he said.
