In Baraigram, Natore, a physically disabled teenage girl was allegedly raped by two young men.
The crime, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred last Friday night in the Musinda Paschimpara area of Nagar Union.
According to the victim’s family and local police, the two accused—Monir Hossain Sarkar, son of Abdur Rashid Sarkar, and Kamrul Islam, son of Jamal Mondal—forcibly took the girl from in front of her house around 10:30 PM on Friday.
They then allegedly raped her before abandoning her.
The girl’s family grew worried when they couldn’t find her for a long time.
After searching, locals discovered her lying in a nearby mango orchard.
They immediately informed the police, who rescued the girl and brought her back home.
Acting swiftly, the police visited the scene and arrested Monir and Kamrul from their homes later that night.
Mahabur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (Acting) of Baraigram Police Station, confirmed the arrests and stated that the victim’s family is preparing to file a formal case.
Once the case is registered, the accused will be presented before the court.
