As part of the anti-drug campaign in the capital, members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a total of 61 people during last 24 hours till 6am today on charges of selling and consuming drugs,reports BSS.
According to a statement issued by the DMP, police conducted various operations against drug selling and consuming in different areas under various police stations and detained 61 drug traffickers and recovered drugs from their possession from 6am of March 31 to 6 am on Friday.
During the anti-drug drive, police seized 197 grams and 22 puria (small packet) of heroin, 46.100 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 12,589 pieces of yaba tablets, 442 bottles of phensidyle syrup and eight litre of local-made liquor from them, it said.
Police filed 33 cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
