The Dhaka Metropolitan Police or DMP has ordered all its units to remain on maximum alert during the upcoming Durga Puja so the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community can be celebrated safely and peacefully.
DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam came up with the directives while addressing the crime review meeting for August at the DMP headquarters, when he said Ansar personnel will also remain at the puja mandaps throughout the festival this year.
“We all have to work hard during the Puja so that no untoward incident can take place in the puja mandaps in the capital," he said.
The celebrations will start on October 1 with Maha Sashthi and end with Bijoya Dashami on October 5 through the immersion of idols in the rivers and other water bodies.
