Efforts begin to tackle fire in Sundarbans

Fire Service has initiated firefighting operations in the Amrabunia area of Chandpai Range under the East Division of Sundarbans in Bagherhat.

On Sunday morning at 8:00 am, three units of the Fire Service began firefighting operations. Alongside the Fire Service, the police, upazila administration, forest department, and local residents have actively participated in this endeavor.

Earlier, on Saturday at 3:00 pm, news of a fire incident was reported to the Forest Department. At that time, the Forest Department, Fire Service, and police were present at the scene. As the evening approached, they concluded their operation. From Sunday morning onwards, the Fire Service, Navy, Forest Department, Police, and local administration have commenced firefighting operations.

Regarding this, Mamun Mahmud, Deputy Director of the Fire Service and Civil Defense in Khulna Division, stated, "After the fire broke out in the Sundarbans, the Forest Department, Fire Service, and locals rushed to the spot. We couldn‍‍`t start the operation yesterday evening. Five units of the Fire Service are ready since the morning, three of which have started firefighting operations. The Navy, Forest Department, Police, and local administration have also begun their firefighting tasks."
