A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday in the capital’s Wari area leaving six people injured from burns, one of them critically.
Of the injured persons, five identified immediately were Anarul (21), Sohel (35), Helal (40), Abdul Rashid (65) and Sumon (24), according to Fire Service and Civil Defense. All the injured persons were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Md Shahjahan Shikdar, Senior Staff Officer of Fire Service, told the media that the fire was originated from Titas gas supply pipeline at around 2:25 am. He said firefighter units rushed to the scene immediately after primary information and doused the fire at around 6:00 am.
He said an under-construction development work is going on to establish an electricity supply line beneath the earth, which might cause the leakage of the gas supply pipeline.
He said a team from Titas gas authority reached the spot and is working to restore the gas supply.
A newly opened restaurant and a beauty parlor also burnt in the fire incident.
