Fire breaks out at Rohingya camp again

The Rohingya shelter camps in Cox’s Bazar have caught fire again.

Around 5.30pm, the fire originated at Shafi Ullah Kata Camp-16, engulfing several hundreds of shanties there, Cox's Bazar Fire Service's Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Abdullah told the media.

Eight units of fire service and civil defence are working to douse the fire.

“Fire broke out at the block G of camp no 16. However, the origin of fire could not be known immediately. Firefighters are battling the fire,” Mohammad Abdullah said.

No casualties were reported till the report was written.

On January 2, several shanties in the camp were gutted in another inferno. The fire gutted at least 16 cabins of hospitals founded by International Organisation of Migration (IOM).
