A fire erupted at a jute mill located in Rupsa, Khulna, triggering swift response from 11 units of the fire service who are currently on site battling to contain the flames. The blaze ignited at the Salam jute mill, situated near Zabusa Chowrasta of Naihati Union No. 3, at approximately 5:28 pm on Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire initially originated in warehouse number 3 of the jute mill. Fueled by the dry jute stored within, the flames rapidly spread throughout the factory premises, necessitating urgent efforts by the fire service personnel to douse the inferno. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties resulting from the fire.
Farooq Hossain Sikder, Assistant Director of Khulna Fire Service, stated that a collective effort involving 11 units from Khulna Sadar, Khalishpur, Daulatpur, Rupsa, Fakirhat, and Batiaghata is underway to bring the blaze under control. Despite their concerted endeavors, the fire is yet to be contained. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage incurred remain unknown at this juncture.
