In a heartbreaking turn of events, a fire broke out and destroyed three resorts on St. Martin‍‍`s Island, one of Bangladesh’s most beloved tourist spots.

Miraculously, no one was injured in the incident, though the damage to the resorts was severe.

The fire started around 2 AM on Tuesday night in the Golaichipa area of the island’s 8th ward, located on the western beach.

Mujibur Rahman, the chairman of the St. Martin Union Parishad, confirmed the incident and shared the details.

Rahman explained that the local residents, tourists, and joint forces worked together tirelessly to bring the fire under control.

After nearly two and a half hours of effort, the fire was finally extinguished by around 4:30 AM.

Rahman further revealed the extent of the damage. The fire completely consumed the Beach Valley and Kingshuk Eco Resorts, both located in the Golaichipa area.

The fire started at the Beach Valley Eco Resort, which was built with wood and bamboo.

Within minutes, the fire spread throughout the resort.

In the end, the Beach Valley and Kingshuk Eco Resorts were completely destroyed.

A third resort, Shayri Eco Resort, was partially damaged by the flames.

Abdul Malek, a local tourism business owner, explained that the fire began in the reception area of Shayri Eco Resort due to an electrical short circuit.

This happened at around 2 AM on Tuesday night.

The incident has raised concerns among the locals, as the island doesn’t have a fire service unit.

The island’s residents pointed out that if there was at least a small fire service unit on the island, the fire could have been controlled much faster, especially since the island is surrounded by the sea.

This tragic event has left many in the community reflecting on the need for better fire safety measures, particularly in a place so crucial to the local economy and tourism.
