Former president Abdul Hamid has left Bangladesh.

He left on board a Thai Airways flight early on Thursday morning, according to a source in the police Special Branch (SB).

SB chief Golam Rasul confirmed the news of his departure.

“He went abroad early in the morning,” he said.

The SB source said that Hamid left Dhaka on board a flight for Bangkok at 3:05am. He had come to the airport at 11pm on Wednesday and completed the necessary formalities before leaving the country.

Hamid was accused alongside ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina in a case at the Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station over casualties during the July Uprising last year.
