A deadly fire broke out at a hotel in Shahjadpur, Dhaka, this Monday, leaving at least four people dead.
The incident took place around noon, but the exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
According to reports from the Fire Service, the fire started at Saudi Hotel, located in the Bhatara Police Station area, at 12:17 PM.
Upon receiving the alarm, firefighters quickly responded, reaching the scene by 12:31 PM, just 14 minutes after the initial call.
Firefighters from Baridhara Fire Station worked tirelessly to control the blaze, which was finally brought under control at 1:04 PM.
The fire had originated on the second floor of the six-story building. Tragically, the bodies of four victims were found in different parts of the building.
Three bodies were recovered at the foot of the stairs on the sixth floor, while the fourth body was discovered inside a bathroom.
The Fire Service also reported that the door to the building’s staircase was locked at the time, which may have hindered escape for those trapped inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and authorities are working to determine how the tragedy occurred.
