A head-on collision between a CNG-fuelled autorickshaw and a sand-laden truck on the Patiya-Boalkhali Regional Road in Chittagong has resulted in four fatalities, according to the police. The incident occurred on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Rumi Akthtar, 30, her 5-year-old son Fahim, both from the Junglakhaine area of Patiya, and the autorickshaw driver, Anowar Hossain, 40, from Boalkhali.
Patiya police station’s Officer-in-Charge, Jasim Uddin, confirmed that the collision took place around 11:30 PM when the speeding truck collided with the autorickshaw near a paper manufacturing mill at the southern end of Military Pool, killing three individuals instantly. A fourth victim later died from injuries while being transported to the hospital.
All victims were occupants of the autorickshaw, with one additional person injured and taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, reported Saiful Islam from the Patiya Fire Service and Civil Defence, who was involved in the rescue efforts.
