The National Citizen Party (NCP) is set to resume its month-long “July March to Build the Nation” from Chandpur on Wednesday, July 23, following the end of national mourning declared after a tragic military aircraft crash near Milestone School and College in Uttara.
The party paused all public events in respect of the victims, and will now continue the march, beginning with a rally at 11:00 AM at the Chandpur Bus Stand.
In preparation for the event, several high-ranking NCP leaders arrived in Chandpur on Tuesday night and are staying at the local Circuit House.
Among those expected to lead the rally are NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, along with senior organizers and youth leaders from different parts of the country.
According to NCP Joint Chief Coordinator Md. Mahbub Alam, the Chandpur program holds special significance.
At a press conference held at the Chandpur Press Club on Tuesday, he said that this phase of the July March would become a historic moment for the people of Chandpur, inspiring hope and unity for the region’s future development.
The day`s schedule includes a courtesy meeting with families of martyrs at 9:00 AM at the Circuit House, the official start of the march at 11:00 AM from Chandpur Bus Stand, the inauguration of Shaheed Azad Square in Hajiganj at 1:00 PM, and the conclusion of the march in Doabhanga at 2:00 PM, after which participants will depart for the next district.
Mahbub Alam also expressed condolences for the victims of the recent Uttara plane crash, announcing that a special prayer and milad mahfil would be held after the Maghrib prayers at the Bus Stand Mosque in memory of the deceased.
Local media personnel, including the president and general secretary of Chandpur Press Club, attended the press conference, alongside NCP district and youth wing representatives.
Meanwhile, Chandpur police have confirmed that maximum security measures have been taken to ensure a peaceful event.
Police Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Rakib stated that the district police, along with other law enforcement agencies, are fully prepared to support the NCP’s peaceful assembly and prevent any untoward incidents.
