GDP growths 5.47%, per capita income increased by taka 17,265

Bangladesh has attained 5.47 GDP growths in FY 2020-2021, reveals Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) in preliminary account. The country obtained 3.51 GDP growths in previous fiscal but was 5.24 in primary findings while the target was 8.2 per cent.

BBS revealed the information on Thursday (August 5). It said, the economy suffered a huge impact of the coronavirus pandemic resulting the shortfall in GDP. But, the achievement is better than many countries.

BBS accounts the GDP growths for taka 30 lakh 11 thousands 6 crore while the target was 7.4 per cent. Although, the target was commuted to 6.1 per cent later considering the pandemic.   

On the other hand, the per capita income in FY2020-21 increased to $2,227 equivalent to taka 1 lakh 88 thousand 873 while the figure was taka 1 lakh 71 thousand 608 in 2019-2020 fiscal.

BBS says, the country obtained 3.45 per cent GDP growth this the recently ended fiscal year which was 4.59 per cent in previous fiscal.

Alongside, the industrial sector gained 6.12 percent and the service sector 5.61 percent which were 3.25 and 4.16 per cent respectively in 2019-20.
