In a move to ensure that government employees and pensioners can enjoy the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations without financial stress, the government has announced that all salaries and allowances for March 2025 will be paid on March 23.
This payment date will also apply to retired pensioners, who will receive their pensions on the same day.
The Ministry of Finance, through its Finance Division, sent an official letter on Sunday, March 9, to various key financial bodies, including the Comptroller General of Accounts and the Controller General of Defence Finance.
The letter, which was also sent to all relevant departments, explained the decision.
According to the letter, the government has set March 23 as the salary payment date, as Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on March 31, 2025, depending on the moon sighting.
The decision affects government employees, including both gazetted and non-gazetted officers, employees of semi-government organizations, as well as military officers (both commissioned and non-commissioned).
The same date will also apply to retirees, who will receive their pension payments.
This directive was issued under the authority of Subsidiary Rule 113(2), as outlined in the Bangladesh Treasury Rules.
The letter was signed by Md. Abdul Gafur, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Finance Division.
This early payment comes as a relief for many, ensuring that families can prepare for the festivities without the worry of delayed payments.
