Md. Shahabuddin will take oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh today in Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at around 11 am. The visitors are attending the presidential handover ceremony in accordance with the Constitution.
Secretary of the President, Md. Zainal Abedin said that immediately after taking the oath the new president Md. Sahabuddin and the outgoing president Md. Abdul Hamid will officially exchange the chair.
The speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will administer Md. Shahabuddin to take the oath.
On the occasion of this ceremony, the guests started arriving after 9 am.
The line of parked visitors' cars in front of Bangabhaban is extending since this morning. The visitors are permitted to enter gradually following the security check.
Freedom fighter and field-level politician Md. Sahabuddin will replace the 21st Former President of Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid. After the death of Zillur Rahman, he is retiring after spending 10 years and 41 days as president for two consecutive terms including 41 days as acting president.
The wife of the new president Dr. Rebeka Sultana and son Arshad Adnan Roni along with other family members will also attend the event.
