BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has urged the interim government to move forward with neutrality, warning that any doubts over their impartiality would dishonor the sacrifices made by ordinary people.

Speaking at a discussion organized by the National People‍‍`s Party (NPP) at the National Press Club on Sunday, Khasru emphasized the importance of returning power to the people.

In his speech, Khasru said,

"Impartiality must be used to return the people‍‍`s ownership. If the government does not make the right decisions to restore the people‍‍`s rights, including their voting rights, and chooses another path, it will not be acceptable to anyone. If the government goes down this path, it will be making a serious mistake, and the people will reject them."

He also stated,

"After Sheikh Hasina’s downfall, the ownership of Bangladesh must be restored to the people through the establishment of a government chosen by them. This was the expectation of the people. If this expectation is not fulfilled, democracy will be at risk. Therefore, delaying the elections is not an option."

Reflecting on the July protests, in which 513 BNP leaders and activists lost their lives, Khasru said,

"BNP does not want to take credit for this movement. We want to give that credit to the people. Betraying those who sacrificed their lives cannot be justified. To bring back democratic order, we must stay united. While there may be differences of opinion among different parties, we must respect each other."
