Man beaten and burnt alive over default loan in Mymensingh

A heinous incident allegedly took place in Netrokona upazila of Mymensingh district where a man was burnt alive as he was unable to repay debt. 

Family members allege he was tortured and burnt to death. 

The incident took place at 11:00 pm on Tuesday (December 21) in Rangchhati union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mujibur Rahman (50) a businessman.

According to Kalmakanda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Ahad Khan, the victim took a loan from a man in his neighbourhood. 

A clash broke out between Mujibur and his neighbour over the repayment of the borrowed money, and then the clash took a serious turn where Mujibur was beaten and burnt alive by his neighbour and his associates, claims his family. 

The body has been sent to Netrokona District Hospital for autopsy. The victim’s family was preparing to file a case, he added.
