Marriage costs are falling in China to increase the birth rate

As China's population declines rapidly, the country's government has taken various measures, including reducing the cost of traditional weddings. Various initiatives have been taken in the country to increase the birth rate.

A report by NDTV on Wednesday (March 8) revealed that gifts or kyli are an important aspect of traditional weddings in China. At the time of marriage, the groom gives it to the bride as a gift. In 2020, Tencent News conducted a survey of 1,846 people. According to the survey, about three-quarters of the participants followed this practice in marriage. Families expect thousands of dollars in gifts at these weddings.

Last January, an initiative to break the tradition of wedding expenses began in central Hebei province. This includes Kylie and the Wedding Game. A campaign to find the 'most beautiful mother-in-law' was launched last month in a county in the coastal Jiangsu province. The one who does not take too much money in marriage will be the 'most beautiful mother-in-law'.

Last February, a letter was signed by unmarried women in a city in Jiangxi. With this signature, they promised not to ask for a huge amount of money in marriage.
