PM exchanges Eid greetings with diplomats, people at Jamuna

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with diplomats and people from all walks of life at the State Guest House Jamuna.

The greetings exchange programme began at 10am, where the Prime Minister first greeted members of the foreign diplomatic community stationed in Dhaka. He later exchanged greetings with politicians, eminent citizens and people from different sections of society. The programme continued until around 11:30am.

He also exchanged greetings with former Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the venue.

Earlier in the morning, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the main congregation at the National Eidgah.

The prayers, led by the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, were held at around 8:34am.

Cabinet members, lawmakers, senior political leaders, high-ranking civil and military officials, and people from different walks of life joined the congregation. The Eid prayers were organised by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), with separate arrangements for women at the venue.

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for Muslims, is being celebrated across the country.

This marks Tarique Rahman’s first Eid in Bangladesh in 18 years, after spending 17 years in London. Earlier, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the joy of Eid would reach every home and urged people to share the happiness of the festival with one another.
