Schoolboy stabbed dead at Hatirjheel on Eid eve

A 19-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death in the Madhubagh area of Hatirjheel in Dhaka while hanging out with friends on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The deceased has been identified as Md Rabbi, a 10th grader at Anjuman High School. Rabbi, son of Md Faruk Mia of Fultala Upazila in Panchagarh, lived with his family in Chairman Goli, Moghbazar.

According to Mehedi Hasan, a classmate of Rabbi, while passing through the madrasa field in Madhubagh around 9pm, three to four miscreants stabbed Rabbi in the chest and abdomen with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.

Rabbi was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College for better treatment. Doctors on duty declared him dead at around 10:30pm.

Md Faruk, inspector-in-charge of the police camp at DMCH Hospital, said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue and the incident has been reported to Hatirjheel Police Station.
