Much to the convenience of the residents of the capital, the authorities concerned have decided to resume the metro rail service from on Sunday.
However, the metro rail will not stop at Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations, said Mohammad Abdur Rouf, the company secretary of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL)
It comes as as the agitating employees of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) returned to work on 20 August.
Interim Government’s Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan on August 18 said that the metro rail services will resume within a maximum of a week.
On August 11, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said that the operations of the metro rail will resume on August 17.
However, the operation of two stations -- Kazipara and Mirpur-10 -- that were vandalised on July 19, will remain suspended until repaired, the DMTCL said then.
Amid the nationwide quota movement, the DMTCL halted the metro rail service on July 18 evening after a police box under the footbridge at Mirpur-10 roundabout and beneath the metro rail line was set on fire. Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations were vandalised the following day.
